What is Makatussin comp?
Makatussin comp 80ml is a medicine for the treatment of coughs, especially dry coughs. It reduces the urge to cough, loosens mucus and reduces swelling of the bronchial and nasal mucosa.
Active ingredients 5 ml contains:
Active ingredients: 10 mg dihydrocodeine hydrochloride, 15 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride;
Excipients: Sodium benzoate (E211); citric acid; neohesperidin dihydrochalcone; sucrose; cherry flavour; elderberry concentrate; sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallising); purified water 5 ml contains approx. 4 g carbohydrates (= approx. 0.33 bread units).
Codeine is not recommended for adolescents aged 12 to 18 years who have respiratory disorders, as this patient population may be more susceptible to codeine-induced respiratory disorders.

Cough syrup should not be taken:
- In case of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
- For children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
